Other Updates

We finally got to go see my grandma a couple weeks ago. She hadn't been able to see Leighton yet, so we were anxious for them to meet. Leighton was a little fussy while we were there, but I don't think Grandma minded. It was great to see her!

Here she is comforting Leighton with her belly ache.

Jaylyn is still enjoying school. I am holding on to the memories of her giving me big hugs and telling me that she loves me being her teacher. I know she will not always feel that way. Ha! I have really enjoyed being able to spend that quality time with her and watching her as she gets excited about reading and learning math. I would hate missing those moments if she were at school. It is also nice not to be the "Go! Go! Go!" mom all of the time as we rush off to school and everything. All three of us girls were able to spend a nice devotion time together this morning. We played some "Praise Baby" music and they picked out one of their Bibles. I truly enjoy having prayer time with Jaylyn also. Yes, we did that before, but not quite like this. We have time to really focus on it now. With preschool and church, we would ask her questions, but she answered like a teenager and said, "I don't remember". When we sit down together now, she opens up much more and I know it is a positive thing for our relationship. Her favorite is our phonics games we play and handwriting. She is doing a great job with learning to read and she even asks to do math. The math we selected teaches a little differently and so far I am fascinated. We will see how it unfolds. Here she is doing one of our science experiments. We made a solar heater and let the sun cook our marshmallows and chocolate bars. She made a guess to see if the paper cups or foil cups would heat faster. and then we enjoyed our yummy treat!

Adley is also doing well. She has had a little more attitude lately, but that is typical for this age. She is doing great with her big girl panties! And she is very proud of them. You can catch her trying to sing some of the learning songs that I am teaching Jaylyn during school. She will sometimes go play or she will join us and do letter or number coloring pages or play with math tiles or something. She says she wants to do kindergarten too. Mostly she just constantly asks to watch tv. :) She also is developing some pretty silly facial expressions lately.

Here are pictures Jaylyn took of her today.

Leighton is Three Months Old

I have been a bit busy and have had no energy to post. :) But, Leighton did turn three months old this week! I can't believe it! We have an appointment to get her pictures taken on Thursday, so you will be seeing some of those soon. We will also get the other girl's annual pictures. Should be fun! ha!

Today, I put Leighton down to go to sleep and she usually cries after a bit and then goes to sleep. Well, today she was doing her, "I'm still crying come rescue me!" cry. When I got in there, she had rolled over on her belly! Oh, we really aren't supposed to be to that phase yet, are we???? I noticed yesterday that she was really rolling on her side pretty far when she would try to sleep. It was like she was after her pacifier that was beside her face. It reminded me a lot of a dog trying to chase his tail! So, today, she made it all the way over. And she did it again during her nap. And then this evening she was playing on the floor while I put the girls to bed and I came down to find her mad and on her belly. I am so looking forward to rescuing her from her belly all the time now until she can figure out how to go back. Fun times ahead!

Other things about her at 3 months. . . *She really focuses on everything and can get distracted from eating because her sisters are being so silly right next to her * She is still being smothered with love from them * She is pretty calm and does a pretty good job when we are out and about *She LOVES to smile and talk a lot *She is getting some pretty good size thighs * She still loves her fishy friends in her bouncy seat and her other toys that hang for her to see *She has scooted down to the bottom of the crib every time I go in to get her after she sleeps. *She is so much fun!

Here is how I found her after tucking the other girls in. I of course let her fuss while I got the camera. :) Although, she looks fine in the picture.

Talking to Daddy

Leighton likes to talk a lot more now. Instead of just little noises here and there, she is in the stage where she "rambles" on and on. I love that stage. I caught a bit of it on our camera while she was on the couch telling daddy all about her day. :) She got REALLY excited after this video clip, but I missed it.

Leighton Faces

Here are some shots my dad took of Leighton the other day. I was glad he caught some good facial expressions. I just love her smile.

School and Potty

Just an update for our first week and a half of homeschool venture. Things are going well. Jaylyn is enjoying herself and learning lots. Here is a picture of her playing one of our phonics games.

I am very proud of how well she is working on everything. We will pray it continues. :)

She is playing "Whack the Sound". She definitely had fun with that!

The other exciting adventure we added this week was potty training. Adley has been ready for quite a while, but we are a family on the go and that makes it difficult to be serious about training without dealing with lots of messes. And, being pregnant and preparing for the baby and school - let's just say, I was not up for it. But, she has been going on her own off and on, so I could not wait any longer. So, busy or not, we had to get serious while she still has some interest. Monday, she did okay. (Don't worry Grandma, the grapes were not a problem! ha!) Tuesday was a hectic day where we were out a lot and had to stick with pullups which don't really work to train her. But, today was success! She was sick of the pull-ups and ready to stay dry. And she did! We will see how the night and rest of the week goes. Hooray!

She said, "are you going to take a picture of me going potty?"
Of course! :)
