Adley is Four!

(I’m usually a little better about getting these posts up on their birthday – oops!) November 17th, 2006 we were blessed with a sweet “not little” baby – Adley. I still remember thinking she just felt so heavy. Hee hee! You wouldn’t believe that now, of course. Adley usually has a good attitude about things, answering my questions with a happy “Sure!”. She will keep working hard on things until she gets it. She is the one who enjoys helping me around the house the most. She has a sweet spirit and is ALWAYS making me laugh. Oh, and her laugh. It is contagious!

She awoke on her birthday with Jaylyn leading her along. Down to the kitchen to open the “present” Jaylyn had for her. DSC_0094I like this picture. Jaylyn, so excited for Adley and Adley SO interested in what Jaylyn had for her.

DSC_0097Jaylyn had found some of her toys that she knew Adley would enjoy. A pink recorder, some Bendaroos and another drawing thing.

DSC_0098Then, in a miracle only from the Lord (Ha!), we were all dressed and ready for preschool early! So, Adley opened her presents!

DSC_0101Our main present to BOTH girls is a newly decorated room since it still has Jaylyn’s nursery decor in there. :-) I am currently in the midst of trying to finish that task. But, we did have a few things for her to open, AND we did let Jaylyn open something and we will let Adley do the same on Jaylyn’s birthday. Can you guess the theme?

DSC_0102The main reason we let Jaylyn open something is because we got them both a desk and knew that it would be complete torture for us to hear Jaylyn’s whining about not having her desk yet. :-) Once the room is finished, the desks are going up there.

DSC_0104Later in the afternoon, Jaylyn helped lead the way again and said we needed to do the cupcakes. Adley had requested strawberry cake and strawberry icing. I made cupcakes this time and they had the joy of decorating their own!

DSC_0106Oh, how many sprinkles can you fit on a cupcake? LOTS!

DSC_0110Make a wish!

DSC_0111Hooray for cupcakes and birthdays!

DSC_0112Don’t forget to lick all of the sticks and candles!

DSC_0113Then off to Incredible Pizza! (also probably suggested for Adley to pick by Jaylyn.)

DSC_0115Adley hit it big on the big wheel. She hit 250 tickets. Here they are still coming out! She also hit 100 free tickets when they let her spin the birthday wheel!

DSC_0127She decided to be silly and jump with Leighton after all that birthday fun!

Days at Home

Here are some random catch up pictures of some of our days in the last month or more!

DSC_0065Ever seen a Cotter Tens Fractal?? This was one of our activities in Jaylyn’s math book to help reinforce the 10 in one concept in our math system (10 ones in 10, 10 tens in 100, 10 hundreds in 1,000). Jaylyn Loved doing this!

DSC_0068My little helper!

DSC_0073A special breakfast for Adley. Sometimes Jaylyn wakes up and wants to make a special breakfast menu with games and color pictures and everything. (I think this started from fun Cousin Makenna!) This was one of those days. Adley is still looking a little sleepy. :-)

DSC_0074One thing on the menu was bagels, but the girls have a new fun bagel topping. In one of Jaylyn’s magazines, there was a “recipe” for rainbow sprinkles to put on yogurt or bagels, etc. So, the girls insisted on making it. Thankfully, it was easy! It is just crushed fruit loops! You sort the fruit loops by colors and crush them. Then layer them in a clear cup and sprinkle on your favorite foods! Don’t you need to add colored sugar cereal on top of your cream cheese??? :-)

DSC_0077I like them too!

DSC_0081I also love to take care of babies! (or baby bears)

Trunk or Treat

Well, going back to the end of October. . . our church had our annual Trunk-or-Treat. And as previous years past, our family picked a theme for our trunks and coordinated costumes. This year was the “Wizard of Oz”. It turned out to be a pretty fun theme. I think thanks goes to Makenna for the idea. :-)

DSC_0032Mark and Shannon did the tornado and the house landing on the witch. Pretty funny! Their tornado even turned. Nice!

DSC_0031Then Terry and Debbie had Munchkin Land. Very cute!

DSC_0030Diana and Larry had the Emerald City. I thought it looked pretty neat!

DSC_0029And then we did the hot air balloon when the Wizard tried to take Dorothy home. Let’s just say that it didn’t quite turn out as I envisioned it. The parachute I wanted to use didn’t work, then I quickly constructed a large tissue paper hot air balloon that ripped apart shortly before leaving for the church. I just glued it to a board and we stuck it up there and did our best to inflate it with the fan. :-)

DSC_0040Here is Jaylyn as the Tin “Girl” and Malaine as the Scarecrow. Very cute!

DSC_0045I made Sawyer (The Wizard!) get in the balloon basket for a picture!

DSC_0048Then I made a girl from our church dressed up as Dorothy get in for a photo too! :-) Somehow I didn’t get Makenna as Dorothy!

DSC_0035Leighton was the Lion – wearing her badge of courage. We had to stick her in a friend’s trunk for a while because she also fit her jungle theme. :-)

I stole these next few pics. . .

trunk or treat3Ok, so here I am as a rainbow. Pretty, huh? I was going to post the one with me and Shannon (who was Auntie Em), but her eyes were bugging out and I didn’t want to get in trouble again. :-)

Preschool Fall Party

Here are some pics from Adley’s fall party they had at her preschool.  The kids came to school dressed in costumes and then had a time of games, crafts and snacks.  They were all pretty cute.  We didn’t get a group picture this time.

DSC_4063Yummy cupcakes!

DSC_0018Pin the nose on the pumpkin.  She walked to the door and then felt with her hand all the way over to the pumpkin.  :-)

DSC_4064There was even time to give a little sister a hug.  :-)

Play Time!

Leighton sure is growing.  Next week she will be 17 months.  She has quite a personality and picks up a lot from these big sisters.  Here are some recent play time shots . . .

DSC_4051 If there is a box available, that is a great play time location.

DSC_4053Then there is always silly time with sisters.  Let’s pretend to go night-night!

DSC_4055Oh, how she loves to play with babies.  Put them to bed, feed them, hug them, push them in a stroller, you name it!

DSC_4059And then there is the favorite – shoes!!!  How she loves shoes.  (This is a nice look, huh?) Sometimes she even wants to wear them while napping.  She often has a preference for which of her shoes she wants to wear!  (Already????  Ugh!)  And then, wearing mom, dad or sister’s shoes – fun fun!
