1st Day of Fun in Colorado

We are here and having fun! Our first day included Garden of the Gods and Nature Center, the Cliff Dwellings and dinner at the Airplane Restaurant.

Also from our hotel room, you cans see the Focus on the Family Visitor Center which is right across the street.

Garden of the Gods
Weather is beautiful. We enjoyed walking through this park with all of the beautiful red rocks and views of the mountains. There were many trails and rocks to explore. I don't think we saw most of it. We saw quite a few people rock climbing. We also got to see a real brown bat up close and personal. A couple park workers found one on the ground in the corner of a big rock and safely collected it in a box and showed us. We also were walking along a sidewalk path and watched a rattlesnake cross the path in front of us. Eek!

Cliff Dwellings
This is some of the indian dwellings they built into the cliffs. You can explore the dwellings here. Pretty neat to see how they lived. Kind of commercialized touristy trap, but still neat to see.

The Air Plane Restaurant

A pretty neat place to eat. It is a real plane that has been transformed into this restaurant. You can eat in the "terminal" (the building part of the restaurant) or the plane. Your waitress is your "flight attendant". A neat experience but pretty BAD food and pretty pricey! Go there and just stick with some basic sandwiches or something.

They even have the cockpit for the kids to go in a play around.
